Guillermo Leon Signature Cigar Review

There is an adage that goes: “Who ever said Winning isn’t everything probably never won anything!”

I can tell you Guillermo Leon does not have that problem. His La Aurora 107 line have been rocking the Cigar bars recently and with the new size the Lancero that just came out you know I’ll be picking up some at the local B & M. BUT this review is not about the 107s, it’s about Guillermo Leon Signature line.  Below is the Tale of the Tape:

Wrapper: Ecuadorian Habano
Binder: Cameroon and Dominican Corojo
Filler: Peruvian, Brazilian, Dominican, and Nicaraguan
Strength: Med-Full

Profile: Rich, bold, complex flavors

Sizes Available:  Corona Gorda(6 x 47), Corona(5.5 x 42), Belicoso(6.25 x 52) and Gran Toro(6 x 60).

I was excited when Jason at Miami Cigars sent me 5 pack sampler and I wanted to make sure I devoted the necessary time to blog this properly.

The Corona Gorda(6 x 47) started with subtle sweet tobacco flavor which progressed into a light spicy pepper.  Creamy and rich it had a relaxed draw with a wavy burn, thick smoke and good ash. Great price at approximate $8.50 compared to some of his higher priced competition.  To sum up the new Signature Line it is a solid powerhouse smoke. Meaning if  Guillermo Leon Signature Cigar was an MMA fighter I’d say it would be the Brock Lesnar of Cigars. Dont expect any fancy dancing around, its  coming in and it’s  going to knock you out! I got two more of these bad boys left and after that I’m hitting the local B & M for some more!

Rocky Patel 15th Anniversary Cigar Review

So many cigars so little time! I gotta tell ya I’ve always been a Rocky Patel fan and when I heard there was an opportunity to try the new RP 15th Anniversary Cigar before it’s official release date I was on it like a Fat Kid on cake!

The Rocky Patel 15th Anniversary is a Nicaraguan Puro made in Rocky’s newest factory in Nicaragua. This cigar is made to celebrate Rocky’s 15th year of blending cigars. As I mentioned the cigar is scheduled to be released at the end July, but selected retailers had a pre-release  There are currently 4 sizes available: Corona Gorda (6×46), Robusto (5×50), Toro (6.5×52), and a Torpedo (6.125×52) I sampled the Toro below is the Tale of the tape!

Wrapper: Habano Ecuador
Binder: Jalapa
Filler: Nicaraguan
Flavor: Full-Bodied

Profile: Rich, complex, full of flavor

It started with strong tobacco flavor which progressed into leather overtones and some pepper. Great draw burned evenly throughout with thick smoke and good ash. If you are a big Decade fan(I am), you’ll love the 15th Anniversary. I would sum it up as a Decade with a serious punch behind it! Great price approximate $9. If you love Rocky ya gotta give him a shot at the title!

La Aurora 107 Cigar Review

The Frugal Cigar Snob Blog is officially online! I just want to thank all my friends and family in making this possible! And I can’t think of a better cigar for my first review to be the La Aurora 107 Below is the Tale of the tape:

Size: Toro 5-1/2 x 54

Wrapper: Ecuadorian

Binder: Dominican

Filler: Dominican/Nicaraguan Blend

Strength: Medium to Full Body

Price: $6-8

La Aurora 107 is named as such to honor the company’s 107 years in business. I was fortunate enough to win a box autographed by Guillermo Leon by guessing how many cigars were smoked into a huge Ashtray belonging to Sales Director of La Aurora, Jose Blanco. I guessed 1200 the answer was 1252! A big thank you goes out to Miami Cigars for sending this sweet prize!

The 107 had great construction! As you can see in the picture I never Ashed the cigar. It had an easy Draw, Smooth Relaxing Smoke. Definitely a solid Medium to Full bodied smoke. I tasted toasty flavors with hints of spice. As the cigar progress more woodsy spices began to surface. Excellent burn with thick smoke. The last 1/3 of cigar had the additional taste of leather with the overall spicy theme intact.  If you like some spice in your cigar, the La Aurora 107 delivers like a stick of dynamite with a great price point! Go out and get some!
